Glenn Gould, August, 2006
In August, 2006, I decided to take a trip to Canada to visit the Glenn Gould sights. I visited his home town of Toronto,
and also went to Uptergrove on Lake Simcoe, 90 miles north of Toronto. This is where his parents owned a cottage on the lake
and where he did most of his practicing. I also went to Ottawa to see his piano and his famous chair.
It was a very moving experience, and along the way I met some interesting people, including the current owner of the cottage,
and a man who knew Glenn Gould since he was a little boy.
